The Wombats announce 2nd single & album release!

Release new single ‘Jump Into The Fog’ on January 24th on 14th Floor Records; second album ‘The Wombats proudly present… This Modern Glitch’ follows on April 11th

“The Wombats have another huge hit on their hands with their new album” – The Sun

The Wombats stormed back to prominence with their recent single ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)’ which received a glorious global premiere on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 where it was named the Hottest Record In The World. The track was also selected as Zane Lowe’s Single of the Week and Richard Skinner’s Single of the Week at XFM.

Now the band maintain momentum towards the April 11th release of their second album ‘This Modern Glitch’ with the single ‘Jump Into The Fog’ that is out on January 24th on 14th Floor Records. A celebration of nihilistic debauchery, ‘Jump Into The Fog’ boasts an infectiously memorable chiming synth riff that’s complimented by a gloriously distorted guitar solo to create a darker angle on the band’s uplifting sound.

The band’s eagerly anticipated second album ‘This Modern Glitch’ features production by Rich Costey (Muse, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand), Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol, R.E.M.) and Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age). The collection includes both ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)’ and ‘Jump Into The Fog’, as well as another upcoming single in the shape of ‘Techno Fan’ that will be released at the end of March.

Following their recent intimate UK tour that sold-out almost immediately, The Wombats will hit the road for a major tour in March that includes a sizeable London date at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo. The dates, listed below, were rescheduled from January:

Following the release of their debut album ‘The Wombats proudly present… A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation’, the band’s ascendency continued unabated. The Wombats completed two huge sold-out UK tours which included triumphant shows at Brixton Academy, a unique one-off headline show at London’s Royal Albert Hall and a massive homecoming show at the 10,000 capacity Liverpool Echo Arena. They were nominated for Best UK Act at the MTV Europe Awards, and played a plethora of enormous festival appearances including a co-headline set on the NME/Radio 1 stage at Reading and Leeds as well as storming sets at Glastonbury, T in the Park, Isle of Wight and Oxegen.
