Life on tour for The Wombats..
At LAX - finished recording album no.2!!!! Haven’t slept much the last few months.. probably get on a 13hr 50min flight now, that should sort us out..
Safely arrived in Brisbane having missed a day of this week out somehow. Think the International Date Line is to blame, the thief!!
Straight to the hotel to dump our bags then off to the festival site to sound-check. We haven’t done a gig for 10 months!! Tonight we’ll have a few ‘welcome’ drinks and get a fairly early night in preparation for tomorrow’s gig. We’ll be drinking a cocktail of excitement and apprehension with a splash of jet lag.. pretty strange mix!
Meet what they call a ‘rock doc’ who is administering vitamin B12 injections to the bands to help with jet lag and give us our energy back.. we’re not the biggest fans of needles!!! We were all very brave boys! We then had an acoustic practice in Murph’s hotel room to get us in the swing of things. Murph’s boxies have sprouted arms and legs and conduct us. We don’t miss a beat!
Murph nearly throws up before the gig, our adrenalin levels reach highs we haven’t experienced in a long time.. the crowd starts chanting.. wombats, wombats.. here we go!!!! Just like riding a super charged sub woofing bike..
Pulled it off!! The Ozzies are amazing (thanks to all of you for making our first gig back so enjoyable!)..total legends! Off to Perth tomorrow, if every gig is like Brisbane then these next 2 weeks should be pretty smart.
Love you all,
The Bats x

NEW VIDEO: The Wombats - 'Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)'
The Wombats are back with their brilliant new single and video for 'Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)'!
They have also come up with a brilliant idea for karaoke video challenge where fans can record themselves singing and dancing along to the song in order to win a chance to be in the video for their second single..
The Wombats announce UK headline tour!
The anticipation surrounding the return of The Wombats continues to escalate. Their upcoming single ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)’ received a glorious global premiere on Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 where it was named the Hottest Record In The World and was swiftly followed by the news that their October tour dates sold out almost immediately. ‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)’ has also since been named as Zane Lowe’s Single of the Week.
The latest development comes with the confirmation of a full UK and Ireland tour that culminates with a sizeable London date at the HMV Hammersmith Apollo. Renowned as one of the nation’s most incendiary live bands and also confirmed as one of the major attractions at Australia’s touring Parklife festival, The Wombats will play:

13th – Dublin, The Academy
15th – Edinburgh, HMV Picture House

The Wombats are about to return to Los Angeles to complete work on their second album with producer Rich Costey (Muse, Interpol, Franz Ferdinand) having already collaborated on the project with Jacknife Lee (U2, Snow Patrol, R.E.M.) and Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Lostprophets). The immediately infectious punky hooks that characterised their debut album are firmly in place, but this time around the band have been eager to experiment with more leftfield ideas and a darker lyrical approach.
‘Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)’ will be released on September 27th on 14th Floor Records with the band’s second album following towards the end of the year.
Following the release of their debut album ‘The Wombats Proudly Present… A Guide To Love, Loss and Desperation’, the band’s ascendency continued unabated. The Wombats completed two huge sold-out UK tours which included triumphant shows at Brixton Academy, a unique one-off headline show at London’s Royal Albert Hall and a massive homecoming show at the 10,000 capacity Liverpool Echo Arena. They were nominated for Best UK Act at the MTV Europe Awards, and played a plethora of enormous festival appearances including a co-headline set on the NME/Radio 1 stage at Reading and Leeds as well as storming sets at Glastonbury, T in the Park, Isle of Wight and Oxegen.
